Quiz Resurrection

I made these three quizzes way back in 2002 and 2003, previously hosted in my various other domains and sites. The Lord of the Rings one was particularly popular and was responsible for making one of my domains gain a lot of hits as well as “blog authority.”

These web tests are now available again at my newly-reacquired domain, Xirculo.com, in the Quiz page: Which Lord of the Rings Elf Are You?, Which Fushigi Yuugi Seishi Are You? and Are You A Pervy Obi-Wan Kenobi Fancier?.

Below are my own results and what-not to the aforementioned quizzes:

I am Elrond!
I am Elrond, Lord of Rivendell. I chose Elvenkind over Humanity and was gifted with great wisdom. During the War of the Ring, I called a Council of the free peoples of Middle Earth and founded the Fellowship of the Ring, all the time wearing a tiara. In the movie, I’m played by Hugo Weaving.

Genbu Kaiden

Uruki - Genbu KaidenI was browsing through anime/manga fanlistings tonight when I came across the one for Genbu Kaiden. This particular FL is dedicated to the manga installments in the Fushigi Yuugi/The Universe of the Four Gods mythology that tell the story of the Genbu no Miko and her Shichi Seishi.

Due to this rather serendipitous web link encounter, my Fushigi Yuugi passion has been rekindled full blast. Thus, off I went scouring the Internet for FY and Genbu goodness.

Yours truly was not disappointed, as I came across the beautiful, freshly redesigned SuzakuSeishi.com and, to my great delight, TamaNeko.net‘s Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden information and translation site.

The latter brought me closest that I have ever been to the Genbu legend. I was introduced to a most fascinating young man, named Rimudo, who is also the Genbu Shichi Seishi Uruki.

Needless to say, he is gifted with extraordinary, highly interesting powers, not to mention dashing good looks. Somewhat a cross between Hakurou of Mount Leikaku fame (Fushigi Yuugi: Genrou Den) and Tatara of the Byakko calling, methinks.

Amazon.com gives the following skinny on the Genbu Kaiden manga:

As referred to in Volume 12 of Fushigi Yuugi, Takiko Okuda was the first of the priestesses to enter “The Universe of the Four Gods.” With this latest work from the pen of best-selling artist Yuu Watase, Takiko’s full story is told.

When schoolgirl Takiko Okuda attempts to destroy her father’s translation of “The Universe of the Four Gods,” she is instead literally sucked into the story, becoming the Priestess of Genbu in an epic journey to find the seven Celestial Warriors.

In her first encounter, she meets the mysterious Rimudo, one of the Celestial Warriors who has a tattoo of the Chinese character for “woman” on his chest.

As it turns out, it’s there for a good reason: Rimudo can not only summon the wind as one of his special powers, but also transform into a woman!

Back in the WWW

For the past few months, I have been lurking in some fandoms where I have been actively participating before. Just got back from reconfiguring some options in my Yahoo! Groups account so I would get mail from my old MLs again.

Indeed am looking forward to catch up with some of the earliest, closest online friends I had. Majority of these really awesome pals are from the Fushigi Yuugi fandom.

Although the fandom itself has experienced a bit of a change that I could not exactly describe as impressive or even favorable, a lot of really intelligent, kind and friendly people are FY fans.

Carpe Alien!

Bite me.

I have been an avid watcher of the series Roswell ever since it made its debut at the Philippine network RPN-9. I kinda liked it because of the cool aliens, especially the rad Isabel (portrayed by Katherine Heigl) and the disturbed bad boy Michael (Brendan Fehr, my suggestion for Tasuki if ever they make Fushigi Yuugi a movie). The reason I found these, achem, aliens to be kickin’ is the WAY they could be so human just like everybody else.

Piccolo!I mean, the first time I watched ET I cried. I think I was around three years old or something. And I totally loved the somewhat cheesy Mac and Me. Of course, I was with Sigourney Weaver a.k.a. Rambolina when she fought those nasty salivating thingies in the Aliens saga. All in all, I liked aliens when they were nice and hated them when they were, well, nasty. They way I would react to people, in kind.

So I have more or less, well, interfaced with aliens for the better part of my life. But I never expected to be so besotted with one.

Until Piccolo.

Why Piccolo?

Simple. He’s one of a kind. When I first got into Fushigi Yuugi a year or so ago, I came to like the Miko idea and vowed that I would make myself someone’s miko if and only if that someone is “godly” enough to deserve a miko.

When I first saw the Raditz arc of the Dragonball Z series, I thought, Hey, why not Piccolo? He’s strong, bad-assed, confident, the silent-type. Aoshi Shinomori with green skin and antennae. Add to that he is actually the “darker side” of Earth’s sort-of guardian/god, Kami.

Of course I got fully convinced of his “divine-ness” when he had mustered enough strength and purity of heart to merge with Kami in the later episodes of DBZ to become earth’s champion.

So I became Piccolo no Miko.
