Happy Halloween 2004!
Happy Halloween, everyone!
Another month came and went so quickly that I barely noticed the passage of time in so many aspects of my life.
I have to agree with many of my contemporaries that life moves so much faster these days, compared to how things progressed in the past.
Last week, I was very delighted to have come across a discounted video CD copy of the 2002 futuristic film Equilibrium.
The price tag for this original copy was originally 250 pesos. Due to several midnight and three-day sales these past few weeks at SM City, it was slashed down to a mere 99 pesos! Of course, I purchased it faster than you could say “Grab!”
Equilibrium stars the deliciously buff and chiseled Christian Bale, with a hefty dose of the magnanimous Sean Bean (better known to fans as the tormented Boromir or the wily Odysseus) thrown in during the first quarter of the movie.
Mildly villainous Taye Diggs had muscle and screen presence, but his character, an ambitious greenhorn cleric, lacked in bite compared to the soulful depth of the sleek Mr. Bale.
Here is the movie summary from Amazon.com:
Delivering awesome high-tech action in the power-packed style of The Matrix and Minority Report, Equilibrium stars Christian Bale and Taye Diggs in a thrilling look at a future where the only crime is being human.
In an attempt to end wars and maintain peace, humankind has outlawed the things that trigger emotion: literature, music, and art. To uphold the law, a special breed of police is assigned to eliminate all transgressors.
But when the top enforcer (Bale) misses a dose of an emotion-blocking drug, he begins to realize that things are not as they seem! Also starring Sean Bean and Emily Watson.
